Además de estos 161 países con una Organización Scout reconocida, existe el caso de otros países en los que se practica el Escultismo pero sin una Organización Scout que lo acoja.
En total, sólo hay 6 países en el mundo en los cuales el Escultismo no existe; en algunos de ellos porque está prohibido.
Bielorrusia, es el país más reciente en incorporarse a la OMMS, el pasado 5 de septiembre del 2010.
España entró a formar parte formalmente de la OMMS en 1922, 10 años después de la llegada del Escultismo a nuestro país, aunque España fué miembro fundador, firmante de la Primera Constitución Scout Mundial.
